About the Museum banner

The Manchester Museum tells the story of The Earth and its many forms of life, including humans and our different cultures.

We have 18 galleries full of dinosaurs, fossils, rocks and minerals, stuffed animals, live amphibians and reptiles, birds, insects, money, bows and arrows, archaeological finds and lots of things made or used by people of different cultures.

At our handling tables you can touch 200 million year old fossils and objects from ancient peoples. Or you could come along to one of our many events and meet Museum experts and scientists, learn new skills, make your own treasures or go on a Museum tour.

The Manchester Museum is part of The University of Manchester and you can find us on the University’s Oxford Road campus (in a very impressive gothic-style building).

The Museum’s Learning Team runs a range of hands-on workshops for all ages where schools students can get hands-on with our objects.
